Just a question.. aren't you required some sort of permit to film in London? I seem to recall them filming Top Gear in London and James May was stopped by the police 'Oh Crumbs - Its the Rozzers!', and they need to check their filming permit.

For any sort of professional location shooting, you definitely, definitely
need all sorts of permissions and permits. In our case, we need to ensure
we are on public highway/property and not causing a nuisance or
    obstructions.

you better not take james then, and remember if you carry more then one handset you are likely to be a terroist.

You may get some fantastic bridge lifts in - there are two ocean liners (one going and one coming) at the HMS Belfast at 2:20 and 4:45 (plus some tugs and barges).

Just a quick response to the above if I may...

The reason we charge is that, as an independent charity that receives absolutely no Government or Crown funding, filming revenue is one of the ways in which we raise the money needed to look after the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, Kensington Palace, Kew Palace and the Banqueting House on Whitehall.

Tim, thanks for taking the time to post a response -- I don't begrudge the
Tower its filming revenue at all. Just a budgetary issue with us!

If you still intend filming at the Tower tomorrow, please do call me and we can discuss the options and work out what will be best for your podcast. You can reach me on 0203 166 6305. Thanks.

    I'll do that, Tim!

Tim, Just to re-assure you - the MIR team will only ever film on private land with permission so we definitely wouldn't film without proper approval. Ben.

I'm in the States, so my thoughts don't really amount to much here, but I'm *super* impressed that Tim even bothered to respond, and moreso that he offered to work up a good solution. Great stuff, and excellent work, Tim.
