Mobile Industry Review: Tag Heuer’s new Meridiist phone: Hmmm.

    I've seen some funny, if not terrible straplines before, but "The first swiss engineered communication instrument" is quite possibly the worst.

    I'm also not a fan of the over-priced mobile sector; and once again a ghastly looking device has been produced for too much money.

    They could at least make it look reasonably nice.

    This mobile phone is perfect if you're boss loves long nonsense meetings, to keep him reminded of the time. :)

    It's nice to see a big watch company like Tag Heuer launching a new product line, which is far from the product it is known for. However, I'm sure that the consuming market is expecting more from this big brand, most likely more unique features, which will be their selling point among the existing competitors and traditional players in the mobile phone industry. Perhaps, a more edgy, sharp and one of a kind design? Or come up with useful and user-friendly features? Just a thought

    £400?? You must be kidding. Have a look in any jewellers window display and a proper mechanical (none of this quartz bollocks) Tag Heuer watch will set you back comfortably over £1000.

    Granted, the whole phone idea seems slightly foolish.

    "Not when your average Tag Heuer watch — if it’s not a knock-off — will set you back maybe 400 pounds?" - The battery powered ones, yes. But that is as low as Tag Heuer goes. The more sophisticated mechanical ones usually start from around £1500.

    Well, my N95 doesn't -- and will never -- work on mechanical elements.

    We're talking about a 2,500 battery-powered-phone.

    Alternatively, buy a really good phone (or even a few) for ~£1000, give the rest to me and I will spend the first week randomly dropping by to complement your excellent taste, intellect, qualities as a human being and value to mankind.

    Same effect and a better phone.

    TAG should add a mechanical watch mechanism and dial for that money.
