We pay too much. Period. Particularly for sending texts and receiving calls while abroad
In certain countries is actually cheaper to call back to the UK than to receive a call or even worse, cheaper than making a call
Why can't we get calling plans/sms plans than include roaming/international calls. I'd gladly trade half of my free 1000 SMS for 50 international SMS

we in Pakistan pay huge amounts for roaming. It also varies with country. Incoming is normally around U.S. $1 per minute and outgoing can vary from U.S. $1.5 to as high as U.S. $5 (on Russian networks) per minute.
