  • Of course Twitter discontinued the sending of UK SMSs - I trust that the individual who thought up the idea of sending out Tweets via SMS (large numbers of FREE and UNREGULATED) to SMS (4 pence per message) has been taken out and duely punished.

    There was nothing to prevent the SMS Provider (or anyone else for that matter) hiring a bunch of unemployed geeks to generate huge volumes of outbound SMS traffic via the service and thereby bolster profits even further.

    Every successful business MUST have a workable business model if it is to survive - that means payments and revenues HAVE to come into the equation somewhere!
