Iridium Networks in rude health

Iridium, the uber-mobile-network and Satellite telecommunications company have posted some wicked results today.

For anyone who thought ‘didn’t they go out of business?’, here’s living proof that they’re still operational. 38% increase in subscribers. Revenue up 28%. EBITDA Up 28 Percent. Up up up. That’s the way to go.

    I never quite understood why the data access was /so/ slow - isn't it like 9600bps or something?

    But yes, you're right. I want one. What do they cost to run?

    I bet it only works it slightly cheaper than Vodafone :-D

    Cool would be using it to deliver the ma-in-law some flowers. Keep her on-side for when chicken soup is needed.

    Would you really want to be sitting off the Cote d'Azure on a yacht with K S-T lounging about gossiping to her MUM?

    Well my wife spent a good amount of time nattering away to her mother on the
    Satphone as she walked about the deck of our Maldivian Villa. And she loved
    me for it. So the lesson there: Always buy a sat phone.
