Mobile Industry Review: iPhone to launch officially in China shortly

Ummm removal of 3G AND WI-FI ... that doesn't leave much, unless it still has EDGE or GPRS. Without any data connection ability it would be an extraordinarily expensive basic phone (although very shiny and multi-touch etc..) with the ability to sync media I guess ? and how are users supposed to know wether an app store application will work or not ?

I'm probably jumping the gun a bit here, but it doesn't sound all that great, for users or apple.

It's all to do with the 3G systems they're deploying there in China. The
device is going to need to be customised for the Chinese market if they want
    3G support :(

Oh, if its just replacing 3G with China-3G then thats not so bad... thought the original bit sounded like 3G was just being removed completely.
