I certainly understand that limitation -- but with 280m customers, I reckon Vodafone's well placed to do-a-deal with Facebook to sort that out, surely?

As I understand it, the Facebook T&Cs prevent apps from accessing and extracting phone numbers (in particular), so although you and I might agree it's something the device should do, like many other devices should do too, it's a limitation placed on them by Facebook.
