I also didn't get it - and I have a guess why. I subscribe to the RSS feed and the sign-up link appeared in my RSS reader and appeared to work. However, it didn't actually take me to a sign-up confirmation page, nor send me an email. Perhaps other users tried to sign up in the same fashion.

I've now signed up through the website, so I should be good to go for next time.
