That's the one I'll be buying, just waiting for it to drop to pull the trigger.

Re: Dell Inspiron Mini 9 — are you getting one?

If it comes with Linux pre-installed - it would be high up on my xmas list.

Re: Dell Inspiron Mini 9 — are you getting one?

Highly unlikely Voda will unlock these to run on other networks, and also highly unlikely Dell will sell them with the HSPA built in. These deals see the MNO subsidising the $100 or so to provide 3G and recouping over the life of the sub. Dell may sell the 3G option as an option, but I doubt it.

£0.02. Er, any bored geeks want to sell me a pre-installed eeePC with Leopard? I've got ca£h to spend, and can't be arsed waiting for Apple to get off their chuffs and jump into the netbook pool...

Re: Dell Inspiron Mini 9 — are you getting one?

I'll get whatever device fits in the pocket of my combats (without making them fall down) and runs proper MacOS reliably and without too much faff.

I may be waiting sometime.

Re: Dell Inspiron Mini 9 — are you getting one?

what happened to the red one?

Re: Dell Inspiron Mini 9 — are you getting one?

you might want to consider one of these

http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/12/tesco-leaks-...

Re: Dell Inspiron Mini 9 — are you getting one?

Nope. Just bought the eee pc 1000H (Atom processor, 1GB RAM, XP Home, 80GB HD, 10" screen, 1.3mp camera, etc,UK dongle. The main driver in getting this now is that the wife can take it to Seattle with her on business later this month and keep in touch with us by VOIP when she's in wireless coverage, without spending a fortune on roaming charges or farting about with travel SIMs. I'm loving it and it's the first computer my wife has been obsessed with and is trying to claim as her own. Netbooks are the way forward.

Re: Dell Inspiron Mini 9 — are you getting one?

I'm getting one, whatever. However, I'm just waiting for Vodafone to show their hand first. If it's £30 pm or under I'll hit one up, otherwise I'll just buy one outright from Dell.

Re: Dell Inspiron Mini 9 — are you getting one?

My key concerns with the netbooks are twofold - how robust are they? and does it have an integrated 3G modem (rather than a dongle)?

I am relatively comfortable with dell's quality, but what about the lenovo or samsung netbook.

Dell also seemed to have planned 3g modem integration from day1 (see vodafone announcement) - it will be interesting if it will be possible to buy a 3g card from HK and add to the dell without having to pay a premium to dell. I wonder who else will provide integrated 3g.

Plug in your "three" sim at £10 a month and you're off. very cool.

Re: Dell Inspiron Mini 9 — are you getting one?

Not bad, but I'd give more than a thought to MSI Wind U100, too which, for a quite similar price, offer much more:

http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=prodpag...
