They're only available in branded firmware.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;AIUI, the certificate is needed to access core phone functionality. It also ensures that the software isn't mistakenly installed on to an incompatible / competitor handset.&lt;br&gt;For a better understanding of the signing process, check out &lt;a href="http://developer.symbian.com/main/downloads/files/AGuideToSymbianSigned_Ed3_hires.pdf" rel="nofollow"&gt;http://developer.symbian.com/main/downloads/fil...&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br&gt;You can use it with an unlocked phone from Vodafone. You can't install the app or get the service unless you have a VOD branded phone, with VOD firmware.
