Just an idea- and agree with you on the price bit

I have seen quite a few of these in various shopping centres like Brent Cross and Trocadero where they take your photo and a few minutes later they give you a small Crystal with your photo inside, these cost about £20 for a 10cm x 5cm x 5cm

If you're going with glass, I'd say trying to get a cell phone design, albeit simplistic, would be key.
