Obviously the risks associated with that choice are potentially huge; what if we choose RIM and Apple win? What if we choose Apple and Android significantly up their game? What if Windows 7 Mobile changes everything? Worst of all what if some bright young thing develops and launches a new breed of smart phone that make the big four obsolete? The outcome could be very dire indeed for those who chose poorly.

I think there is another choice which frees you from taking sides and allows you to sit back and watch the impending war, safe in the satisfaction that whatever the outcome your application will survive and thrive. The safe choice is to develop on an application platform, like uniPaaS that allows developers to build and deploy applications across multiple channels, be that on iPhone, on Blackberry, on Android, on Windows Mobile 7, on a desktop, on a private cloud, on a public cloud or on premise, both as Rich Internet client (RIA client) or as HTML AJAX client.

There is no need to invest in a mobile application platform applicable to just one device, when a single development platform, enables developers to build and deploy applications exactly where your customers want them with the minimum of effort. With this option you have effectively hedged your bets whoever emerges triumphant in the “war of the smart phones” you will be secure in the knowledge that with uniPaaS you can simply “Do it Once, Do it Right” and uniPaaS will Magic away all of your worries.
www.magicosftware.com
