People like free stuff, and a way both (the reader & blogger) win is by promoting their site on something as simple as a business card, pen/pencil, pins, magnets, etc...
I want people to take it one step farther by putting a lil more interest/meaning to their blog by promoting it outside of the World Wide Web.

Re: 19 Things To Consider When Planning A Blogger Launch Event

The requirement to bring something, other than themselves, could be a bit of a barrier to many, Arie. I like the idea of being able to offer attendees something but I think it could end up preventing people from coming along unless they specifically have an array of schwag to select from.

Re: 19 Things To Consider When Planning A Blogger Launch Event

Hi,

Nice Article. I need your advice on something. I'm a blogger for KMPblog.com, and I am planning a Blogger Event in NYC, for bloggers and blog readers to network. I am asking bloggers to come up with 50 promo items to be put in a gift bag to give to the first 50 guests to arrive to the event. The event is also to help promote our blogs and get more traffic. I am also trying to get some sponsors or other bloggers that cannot attend the event to provide items for the gift bags as well. I want your opinion on whether you think this event is a great idea and where/who I can ask to sponsor my event.
Thanks in advanced,

Arie Rich
KMPBlog.com
twitter.com/arierich

Re: 19 Things To Consider When Planning A Blogger Launch Event

Very sexy!

2008/10/20 Disqus <>

Re: 19 Things To Consider When Planning A Blogger Launch Event

I promised to come back when the Joshua PR website is up and running - well now it is. Ha! Gin & Tonic will be just fine thank you very much... :P

Joking aside, glad you put this list together - genuinely good advice. The key thing to take away from this is that we all have day jobs. MIR doesn't pay the bills, we do it for the love of the thing...

We *want* to write about COOL STUFF. They are both thoroughly nice chaps who will get your product in front of the correct people.

Re: 19 Things To Consider When Planning A Blogger Launch Event

Some very good pointers indeed.

I echo James on item 17.
